What is Powder Coating?
Powder coating is a process of applying a compound of dry powdered paint which consists of resins, fillers and pigments that are sprayed through a low-velocity spray gun that also charges the particles using electrostatic spray deposition (ESD) the particles are then attracted to the metal substrate when applied, the electrostatic charge holds the particles in place through the curing/baking process which fuses them to the metal at a high temperature which can exceed 180 degrees.
How durable is Powder Coating?
Powder coating provides very high abrasion and is resistant to cracking, peeling and is corrosion and chemical resistant, these characteristics vary by paint choice and specific application. To make it easier for our customers depending on what your requirements are we offer internal and external specifications.
A large part of our work and the facility is taken up by our purpose built 120-meter long conveyorised powder coating line which includes two spray booths and 3 ovens which can be used for powder coating and wet spraying depending on your needs. The line consists of a Novel setup compromising of 2 booths with a semi-cure and cure oven to apply 2 coat powder coating systems in a single pass. We also have two manually operated box ovens with heavy duty E38 conveyors which enables us to powder coat much heavier and larger objects which allow us to powder coat up to an enormous 7.1m x 2.6m x 2.8m
We also have a sample box oven which is relatively smaller with a dry filter that is primarily used for smaller components and line trials.
What do we powder coat?
We can powder coat practically anything metal that can tolerate temperatures up to around 200 degrees during the baking/curing process, metals such as mild steel, electroplated and galvanized steel and also aluminum and stainless steel, most other steel alloys can be powder coated.
